A New Life with a New Direction

The following is a True story that takes place at a local Warming Shelter for the Homeless.

On a very cold December Night in a Warming Shelter that is open to anyone that needs to get out of the cold (no matter their Condition, Intoxicated or not) there were 2 people who’s paths were about to cross.

The first is a Volunteer at the Shelter who is committed to doing God’s work and spreading God’s Love. The Second is a Man who had been Homeless and an Alcoholic for many years.

The Volunteer spent time with the Homeless Man. Listening with sincerity and passing no judgement. The volunteer shared with the homeless Man the New life he could have by accepting Jesus as His Saviour and get freedom  from His past and replace it with hope for His future. The Homeless Man said yes, and they prayed together and He accepted Jesus into His life.

The Homeless Man gave up Drinking at that moment, and within 3 days He was enrolled in College as a full time Student and approved for Grants and loans to pay for it!  Wow!!

There are 2 things about this story that stand out to me. The first thing is that God can and will restore our lives if we are willing, ready and committed. The second thing is that the Volunteer at the Warming shelter Shared God’s Love with this man. Not Judgement, but Love.

To accept God’s will for our Lives doesn’t mean that every thing will be all better and change as fast as they did for this former Homeless Man.  But, God is in Control and He will guide us and give us the strength We need to get through those tough times.

Proverbs 16:3 NIV
Commit to the lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.

Philippians 4:13 NKJV
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
